Art Collection

Located in the Palau Vedruna from the beginning of the 20th century, the Hotel Claris emanates elegance and refinement in its impressive architecture. Construction of the hotel in 1992 respected the building’s original façade to integrate it with its surroundings.

The guest rooms are accessed from corridors winding around a sizeable patio that perforates the building from top to bottom, faced with stone moulding and housing two panoramic lifts that lead up to the terrace.

On the ground floor, the patio forms a large interior garden made up by a pond with two waterfalls and a dry area with white marble stones in the style of a Japanese garden. In the centre of the pond lined in black slate, an artist’s ceramic sculpture emerges.

Egyptian Museum
The exhibition currently consists of 70 pieces that illustrate the better part of the chronological periods that the history of Egypt is divided into. From the Old Kingdom (2686 BC – 2134 BC) to the Roman era (2nd century AD) Most of the objects are from funerary contexts: there are fragments of mural paintings, coffins, canopic jars, the statues called ushabtis (substitutes for the deceased), wooden human figures (originally integrated into funerary models), headrests, different types of amulets, scarabs and so forth.

Other works illustrate the breadth and variety of the Egyptian pantheon with figures of gods in human or animal shape, like Osirus, Horus the child, Bes, Hathor and Neit. Lastly, containers for cosmetic products, carpenter’s axes, spoons and stone and ceramic containers draw us into the realm of daily life in a more direct way.

Art collection
The Hotel Claris’ art collection is primarily composed of Egyptian pieces but it also contains English furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries, Turkish kilims from the 19th century, Roman sculptures and mosaics from the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD, engravings by Guinovart, original engravings commissioned by Napoleon in 1812 and Indian and Burmese sculptures from the 5th to 13th centuries. In total, the treasures of the Claris make up a collection with over 400 pieces.

Hotel Claris has several function rooms for meetings and events in Barcelona. Duplex Suite

The Suite Duplex, on two levels, is the jewel in the crown of Hotel Claris. A room in which to enjoy every minute you spend there.

Thanks to its distribution on two levels, the rest or work area on the lower floor is totally separate from the sleeping area on the upper floor. The suite has a sitting-dining room, bathroom with sauna and dressing room on the lower floor and an open-plan bedroom and a second bathroom on the upper floor.

The Suite Duplex’s outstanding decor includes an impressive 16th-century Japanese kimono on display in the sitting-dining room, statuettes of Hindu gods over 1,600 years old, engravings depicting Napoleon’s battles in Egypt, 17th-century English furniture and Catalan Art Nouveau pieces.

Executive Room

New and modern 20-m2 rooms that make an impact with their detailed décor that uses high-quality noble materials: oak with rosewood marquetry for the wardrobes and merbau hardwood floors. Located on the ground floor of Hotel Claris, the cuisine offered at East 47 tapas bar is based on a selection of a wide variety of tapas and cocktails. Its selection of sweet and savoury tapas is outstanding, as is its broad selection of cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

And as one would expect, its Pop-Art décor is done up in true Andy Warhol style.

La Terraza del Claris is the perfect place to enjoy summer and winter evenings. Located on the top floor of the hotel, it offers spectacular views of Barcelona at night next to the hotel’s swimming pool.

At midday, La Terraza del Claris offers the Factory carte du jour. In the evening, La Terraza del Claris offers a broad array of culinary delights featuring grilled lobster with vegetables, Wagyu steak with artichoke and garlic chips and today’s fresh catch with Jerusalem artichokes, Catalan sausage and courgette flowers, as well as a generous selection of Iranian caviar.

There is also a wide variety of cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Among the former we find the most classic cocktails—Caipirinha, Bloody Mary, Mojito, Margarita—together with the Claris fashion cocktails: ¡Hip47!, Pasión Negra and Fragolino. The non-alcoholic cocktails include the Claris cocktail.
