Each has an en-suite with separate shower and bath.

Suites

The Mount Nelson offers four different categories of suite, from the elegant Junior to the magnificent Presidential Suite.

Junior Suite

For guests requiring more spacious accommodation, our Junior Suites offer a bedroom with a larger open-plan or separate lounge area. Most offer views of Table Mountain, the hotel gardens or a landscaped courtyard. All have an en-suite bathroom with a separate shower and bath.

Accessible Suites

The hotel offers two purpose-built, fully accessible Junior Suites. The bathrooms have wider doors, a low sink, a bath with handrails and open cupboards for easy access. The shower, with a movable showerhead, has open access and a chair. These rooms offer views over the picturesque fountain courtyard.

Deluxe Junior Suite

Light and airy, the Deluxe Junior Suites comprise a spacious bedroom and a compact separate lounge. Most offer views of Table Mountain, the gardens or a landscaped courtyard. All have an en-suite bathroom with a separate shower and bath.

Superior One Bedroom Suite

These suites feature spacious open-plan lounges and dining areas, private balconies and luxurious marble bathrooms with walk-in dressing rooms. Selected suites also offer a kitchenette/wet bar with small microwave, hotplate, sink and general kitchen utensils, making them perfect for families with small children.

Deluxe Suites

Our Deluxe Suites offer a separate bedroom, living and dining area, a private courtyard and a balcony. All the suites have luxurious marble bathrooms with walk-in dressing rooms, and a number of them also benefit from a kitchenette/wet bar.

Presidential Suite

The luxurious Presidential Suite encompasses a stylish marbled entrance hall, a private dining room, master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a large lounge leading onto a balcony with stunning views of Table Mountain. There is also a wet bar, complete with a microwave, stove, sink and kitchen utensils.

Decorated by leading interior designer Graham Viney in soft hues and silky luxurious fabrics, the suite features 1930s light fittings with baccarat crystal drops and an original Louis-style desk dating from when the hotel first opened in 1899.

Garden Cottage Suites

A row of eight restored, historic cottages, adjacent to the secluded pool, make up the Garden Cottage Suites.

A luxurious home away from home, each cottage sits behind a scented rose garden, enclosed by a picket fence, ensuring a haven of peace and privacy.

Decorated with touches such as toile wallpaper, Venetian mirrors and oversized couches, the cottages also feature four-poster beds and glamorous marble bathrooms, making them ideal romantic hideaways for honeymooners and couples. Other special features include separate living and dining areas, wet bars, mini-libraries and enclosed patios.

Gastronomy & Bar

Fine dining has long been a tradition at Mount Nelson Hotel. With our wide choice of venues, each with its own individual style, we aim to bring you the very best cuisine in Cape Town.

The glittering Planet Restaurant is a chic, contemporary dining space in which to enjoy out-of-this-world dishes such as smoked crocodile and Namibian red crab, while the neighbouring Planet Bar offers a stylish setting for champagne and cocktails under the African night sky.

Our famous Afternoon Tea is served daily in the lounge, on the terrace or around the garden fountain.

Planet Restaurant

Dining with the stars is guaranteed at Cape Town’s most stylish restaurant, where crystal balls grace the entrance and the décor includes a galaxy-themed carpet, planetary chandelier and twinkling ceilings.

Matching the décor are Chef Rudi Liebenberg’s heavenly menus, journeys of gastronomic discovery featuring the freshest local ingredients.

Adventurous dishes for meat lovers include smoked crocodile and rooibos-cured ostrich or springbok; for fish fans there’s Namibian red crab or pan-fried salmon trout, and vegetarian options might include roasted butternut ravioli.

Planet Bar

Cool, chic, yet timelessly elegant, Planet Bar throngs all year round with well-heeled Capetonians sipping sundowner cocktails or pre-dinner champagne.

The bar’s stylish celestial décor, quirky touches and comfy couches create a relaxing ambience, whether you’re people-watching from the terrace in the summer or curling up by the fire with a glass of red in the winter.

Planet Bar offers an extensive cocktail menu, a wide selection of champagnes and wines, and an assortment of light menus and canapés.

Open daily from 12.00 until late.
