Fitness Center

Being away from home need not mean being away from your health and fitness routine.

Our Fitness Centre facilities include a gymnasium, swimming pool and a wellness spa, featuring classic, oriental and aromatherapy treatments and massages. The pool is open 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily during the summer, and from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the winter.

The Fitness Centre has the latest in interactive exercise workouts for improved aerobic endurance and general body toning. Personal training is available upon request. Complimentary yoga classes are available Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with prior appointment of 24 hours. Private yoga sessions are available as well.

294 rooms including 27 suites are luxuriously appointed with latest in in-room comforts. The hotel offers The Taj Club, Executive Suites, Luxury Suites and the Grand Presidential Suite.

Deluxe Room

Measuring 357 square feet, these contemporary rooms are well equipped with modern guest amenities. Classical decor and refined ambience make these recently refurbished rooms an ideal choice for the discerning business traveler.

These rooms also offer stunning views. Guests have a choice of pool view or Lutyens’ city view, which showcases the President’s Palace, India gate and the Raj path, Humayuns Tomb and the Taj Mahal Delhi gardens. Since The Taj Mahal Hotel is the only high rise in this area, guests can enjoy an unbroken view of the skyline.

Luxury Room

The same amenities and views as the Deluxe rooms, with the pleasing addition of a complimentary buffet breakfast.

Taj Club Room

Discerning travelers know that the Taj Club never disappoints. Club rooms offer stunning views, plush surroundings and the most luxurious of amenities, including a complimentary bottle of imported wine, chocolates, fresh flowers, a fruit basket and a choice of newspapers and magazines, as well as a 24-hour invisible butler. The butler becomes the guest’s one point of contact assuming the all-important role of guide, assistant and provider for all a guest’s needs.

Guest services include complimentary airport pick-up, early check-in at 9:00 a.m. and late check-out at 6:00 p.m. (subject to availability) and a welcome drink on arrival. Guests are welcome to enjoy complimentary breakfast, tea and coffee and cocktails in the Taj Club lounge, have complimentary use of the meeting room at the Taj Club, and full use of the gymnasium, steam and Jacuzzi in the fitness centre.

Executive Balcony Suite

A combination of comfort, convenience, and executive level style, these suites measure 778 square feet and offer remarkable amenities. These rooms feature a bedroom, lounge/ living room with a workstation, walk-in closet and a large bathroom including bathtub and a separate shower cubicle. These suites have an enclosed balcony that overlooks the pool and lawns against a backdrop of Mughal Delhi. The privileges of the Taj Club are also included.

Luxury Suite

These picturesque suites are named the Oriental, Rajputana and Tanjore and are themed accordingly. The artwork and antiques recreate old world charm with a blend of modern amenities and gracious personalized service. The suites offer fascinating vistas of the city – both the Presidential Palace view and the pool view. They have a spacious living room, bedroom, and dining room with a pantry. The privileges of the Taj Club are included. These suites, measuring 1031 square feet, have the option to be converted to a two bedroom suites, using an interconnecting room.

Grand Presidential Suite

A tribute to the grand designs of Delhi’s chief architect, Edwin Lutyens, the suite contains many of his original drawings and architectural motifs, including furniture that has been adapted from his sketches. With linen, crockery and cutlery from purveyors of true luxury, the suite comprises a master bedroom, a master bathroom, a vanity room, a private pantry, a library, a private workout area, a living room, a dining room and a powder room that can be interconnected with two more bedrooms.

Through the years various difnitaries and heads of state have made this their home. An honour that we are delighted to receive repeatedly for this suite.

Rick’s

This stylish, urban lounge bar is named after Rick Blaine, the star of the classic black and white movie ‘Casablanca’. Rick’s serves innovative cocktails along with great music and delicious Southeast Asian cuisine. Choose from the 101 Martini menu or select from our large selection of international single malts, spirits, and wide range of rare whiskies.

The entertainment is eclectic and new age, ranging from progressive jazz to blues and retro music oldies and light dance music towards the evening. The mood is trendy, chic and spirited. The city’s smart set brushes shoulders at this bar, made famous by its Vodka based cocktails and the “Guava Berry Martini.”

Machan

Machan is truly an adventure for the taste buds. This 24-hour international eatery, with a safari décor, is also the capital city’s most popular multi-cuisine restaurant. Machan offers an extensive a la carte menu, comprising Southeast Asian and contemporary western cuisine, popular Indian dishes and a variety of sandwiches, pastas and refreshing salads. For lunch, the buffet offers a clever selection of international dishes with innovative salads and desserts. The champagne and caviar brunch on Sundays is an award-winning treat, showcasing some of the finest gourmet food with unlimited flow of Moet et Chandon, Rose and Martinis.

As the name suggests, the décor is based on Indian wildlife, reminiscent of the days where ‘Machans’ were built for game hunting for princes. Machans are temporary structures built atop trees to spot game. Images of game hunting with artwork depicting the ‘Indian tiger’ add to the theme of the restaurant.

Emperor Lounge

Emperor Lounge is an elegant place for meetings over high tea and coffee. Its gracious and comfortable ambience is well suited for both casual get-togethers and occasions where a bit more formality is not amiss. Enjoy a premium selection of champagnes, Bellini’s, cognac and cigars. Or arrange for High Tea. With 85 varieties of tea, finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, jam and clotted cream and a range of delectable pastries, an unforgettable afternoon is a forgone conclusion.

Chef Kim has created Chocolate Factory, which features cakes, pastries and a new line of chocolates available exclusively in the Emperor’s Lounge. Not that we wish to compromise anyone’s restraint but consider the decadence of having champagne truffles and coconut pralines delivered to your room for a turndown service.

The Grill Room

House of Ming

Being the premier Chinese restaurant in the city, the glitzy clientele come from far and wide for this haute cuisine. Its sumptuous offerings reflect two of the finest Chinese cooking styles, Cantonese and Schezuan. From starters to desserts, the menu takes you through a journey of delightful creations by our master chefs. We also pride ourselves with the finest selection of dim sum.

House of Ming is known for its Ying-Yang concept that is applied to designing and serving meals. The concepts are based on the delicate balance of hot, sweet and sour flavors and the crunchy and soft flavors. Every single dish has its distinct flavors that are carefully married with other dishes. Items like Crispy Spinach, Chicken Aniseed, and Toffee Banana were debuted here and have become an essential menu item for every local Chinese restaurant since.

Color plays a significant role in the restaurant’s décor. Turquoise, the primary color, symbolizes serenity. The crockery and décor are a mix of green, blue and white because all these colors have a great significance in the Ming dynasty history. Blue represents peace, tranquility, stability, harmony, unity and is associated with immortality. The art of white and blue porcelain was perfected during the Ming dynasty.

Wasabi by Morimoto

Legendary Chef Masaharu Morimoto, known to many as the Iron Chef, creates magic at Wasabi by Morimoto, his world-class Japanese restaurant. Age-old favourites like tempura, teppanyaki and sushi are turned into something new and surprising with fresh cooking techniques and unconventional sauces.

Visually stunning in every way, this elegant restaurant offers the best of Japanese gastronomic delights. The restaurant features the most impressive repertoire of Japanese sakes with a separate sake bar, and boasts a dramatic teppanyaki and grill counter that treats guests to a vibrant display of steel and iron showmanship. The sushi bar offers fresh ingredients flown in from Tsujuki everyday.

The restaurant also offers a private dining room that is set in the alcove of the restaurant offering gastronomic delights. This room features lovely pink onyx walls, which are lit from behind and can seat up to 8 people.

Varq

Varq is a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary sophistication. Visually spectacular in every way, this elegant Indian restaurant is located at the lower lobby level overlooking the hotel’s beautifully manicured gardens. Varq seamlessly married the traditional Indian themes with a simple palette of bespoke furnishings. Mixing timber, creamy leather and gold textures creates a contemporary and classic ambiance that immerses diners into a lusciously rich experience surrounded by artifacts and treasures that exist to frame Grand Master Chef Hemant Oberoi’s cuisine.

Chef Oberoi has taken Indian food to a different dimension with new techniques, innovative presentations and usage of organic produce and spices. He has reinvented Indian food with unusual creations and pairings. The menu is a rich accumulation of Indian recipes evolved to the next level. Varq retains the Indian traditional way of cooking while using exotic ingredients like sea bass, diver’s scallops, goose liver, halibut, sand crab and Karachi prawns.

The dessert station is a visual treat that teases diners throughout their meals. A kulfi trolley, a masala chai crème brulee, and ice cream with baileys rabdi are the finale to a grand meal. Varq offers separate dessert and tea menus or thoughtful pairings of both with teas that have been handpicked and blended exclusively for the restaurant.

The presentations of Chef Oberori’s exquisite culinary inventions are served amongst work by celebrated artist Anjolie Ela Menon. This work has been carefully restored and sits comfortably in its new space. In addition, modern artworks compliment the restaurant in the form of oil paintings, carvings, antiques and modern sculptures.

Varq offers a private dining room for 14 guests. Within the private dining room, two evocative and contemporary figurines, one male and one female, will be sure to charm and humour their audience. In complete contrast, other artworks within the private dining room include two large gold and silver shields that have been intricately carved in a traditional style and a series of four captivating modern figurative oils on canvas that depict a goddess. Here, cuisine and art fully merge for a truly unforgettable dining experience.
