CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La draws inspiration from the origins of the Shangri-La legend, a place of personal peace, enchantment and well-being.

Set within a secluded corner of the resort enclosed by soaring centuries-old rain trees and beside a tranquil seashore, CHI, The Spa offers 11 spa villas and a yoga pavilion exuding serenity, peace and solitude. Decorated in distinctive CHI style, the spa design also incorporates indigenous Malay and Peranakan influences in its rich timber wood flooring and stone walls. The spa menu includes Chinese and Malay treatments. Each of the spacious villas is equipped with a private changing room, a treatment room and a private garden, all surrounded by 30 acres of lush gardens. Outdoor rain showers are available in selected villas.

In traditional Chinese philosophy, “chi” or “Qi” is the universal life force that governs well-being and personal vitality. For people to maintain good health, it is believed that “chi” must flow freely within the body and, when blocked, “disease” and illness follow. Movement is therefore a key element in releasing blockages. The Spice Market Café in the Garden Wing pays a delicious homage to Penang’s heritage as a culinary meeting place and a centre of the historic trade in spices and exotic herbs.

Feringgi Grill

Exclusively situated on the mezzanine floor of Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa, the Feringgi Grill offers diners a bird’s eye view of the resort’s lush tropical greenery. Cuisine served is impeccable, where gourmands savour exquisitely-prepared modern grill cuisine, complemented by attentive service amidst a warm and cosy ambience.

Spice Market Café

The Spice Market Café is an informal buffet-style restaurant that offers authentic cuisines from diverse cultures that reflect Penang’s heritage as a cultural crossroads: Chinese, Indian, Nyonya-Baba, Japanese, Thai, Western and international. The café is right beside the unique free-form swimming pools, under a canopy of century-old rain trees that echo with the delightful sounds of chirping tropical birds.

Guests dining outside are cooled by sea breezes. Outdoor seats are also available at special timber decks overlooking the sandy expanse of Batu Feringgi Beach.

The Spice Boutique

Sundown is marked by the strike of a gong, indicating the start of our popular beachside Happy Hour.
