The College Hotel

The College Hotel is an intimate, warm and luxurious boutique hotel in Amsterdam’s fashionable Zuid (South) area, right in the centre of the city’s Fashion & Museum District.

Behind the walls of the former secondary school building on the Roelof Hartstraat in Amsterdam South, a unique concept can be found. The building accommodates, since May 2005, The College Hotel, a teaching hotel established by the ROC of Amsterdam and representatives from the catering industry in order to improve the education of the young students and to bring new talent to the hospitality industry. Since 2008 The College Hotel is owned by the Nedstede Group. The original training concept has remained the same.

Since the opening of The College Hotel, 80 students from the ROC of Amsterdam and Flevoland ( but also from other MBO and HBO courses ) are trained in practical tasks in a real life situation and are schooled in all aspects of the hospitality industry. The students work under the supervision of experienced teachers and hotel professionals.

The College Hotel, which has four stars, has 40 stylish boutique rooms, which are all individually designed, 4 private meeting rooms, a beautiful lounge/bar, a sunny terrace and a restaurant in the former gymnasium. The unique concept, the design and warm hospitality ensures that The College Hotel is visited by ( well known and famous ) international guests from all over the world. A few years ago the Hotel won the Prix Villegiature for the “best interior design in a hotel in Europe”

The Coster Salon
The Coster Salon is an intimate space with lots of daylight, an elegant mirrored wall and a lovely open fireplace at its centre. It can be set up in several ways to welcome 12 guests for a lunch or dinner. If used for a reception this salon can accommodate up to 30 people.

The Vondel Salon
The Vondel Salon can be booked for cocktail parties, unique lunches or dinners for up to 16 people. The Vondel Salon even has its own terrace, so guests can enjoy an aperitif outside.

The P.C. Hooft Salon
The P.C. Hooft Salon, the largest space in the hotel, is distinguished by its impressive chandeliers and high mirrored wall. Perfect for an unforgettable wedding ceremony! Of course, it’s also well suited for hosting lunches or dinners, and it can be set up to seat 36 people at one long table. Receptions are possible for up to 100 people.

The Van Baerle Salon
The van Baerle Salon can accommodate 12 people for a meeting, a presentation, lunch or dinner.

The Courtyard
The courtyard is a wonderful location for exclusive cocktail parties for up to 100 guests.

All of our salons have a sound system and free wireless fast internet and can be set up for audiovisual equipment.

Weddings

The combination of romantic appeal and historic character makes The College Hotel the perfect location for every wedding. Its stately building, built in 1894 in the same style as the Rijksmuseum, and lovely Salons offers future brides and grooms endless possibilities. The Coster Salon and the Van Baerle Salon can be used for the intimate wedding, although the PC Hooft Salon and The Courtyard Salon are ideally suited for the larger groups.

The official part of the day is also possible here in The College Hotel. The College Hotel is named by the Dutch Government as official wedding location. Every type of style or atmosphere can be applied.

And also there is possibility to sleep in one of the luxury rooms. Next to the exclusive rooms, the hotel owns a very romantic Suite with lovely decor and fully equipped. In the hotel all the high tech facilities can be used, and with the lovely Vondelpark for a romantic photo shoot within walking distance, this will be the perfect place for every type of wedding. Gastronomy & Bar

The College Restaurant

Lovers of good food and wine will feel at home immediately in The College Hotel restaurant. Chef Wilko Hoogendoorn and his team present dishes with an international touch, yet rooted in Dutch cuisine. Hoogendoorn playfully combines the tastes of exotic herbs and spices he remembers from his childhood. The subtle accents of cinnamon, anise, pepper, nutmeg and mace result in a captivating and inspiring dining experience.
The College Hotel restaurant, with an open kitchen, is located in the renovated 19th-century school’s former gymnasium. Its circular tables can accommodate 65 diners in a perfect balance of light and space.
For all the ladies there is a special Lady Lunch. For only 25 euro’s two courses are served with a good glass of wine.

Bar Lounge & Terrace

The Lounge has dark, sensual colours, black oak floor, a catwalk, an atmospheric open fire and cosy corners. This metropolitan ambiance is an open invitation to make a choice from our large selection of cocktails and wines or enjoy an afternoon tea.

The College Hotel has an award winning terrace, with a Mediterranean feal with its large olive trees and lounge area. The garden and terrace has been designed by Mrs. Tamara Geraci from Aramat Design. We also have an inside courtyard with a peaceful waterfall, the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam surrounded by dutch 19th centrury architecture.
